Creative Rehab 2.0
We had the opportunity to return to Gloucestershire for the second time for a Creative Rehab Residency at the incredible Hawkwood creative playground in Stroud. Though a open call we offered 7 artists the opportunity to spend 5 days on site with 24 hour access to a variety of rehearsal spaces. We were lucky once again to have a variety of multfaceted artists with a primary base in movement/dance. The 5 days included a large amount of independent practice, project focus, eating, forest walks, jam sessions and sharings.
Accomodation, space and food was provided by Strike A Light & Hawkwood (December 2023). Attendee's Facilitator - Jamaal O'Driscoll Artist - Nathan Lafayetee Artist - Hannah Rudd Artist - Quinta Artist - Auroca Castori Artist - Seirian Griffiths Artist - Bethan Siddaway |

Here are some anounymous quotes from the artists:
"The residency allowed me to take some time to look at my practice and access what I was currently working on"
"The residency benefited my practice as I had the opportunity to, for the first time, just solely focus on playing with and creating movement. The residency personally gave me a calmer environment where I was focused on process over product and as a result, I feel like I enjoyed moving much more and ideas felt like they came to me really naturally. "
"It was a really conducive enivoment where you could be in a bubble and be away from any interuptions to maintain focus. We were wokring on really personal stuff and needed space to incubate ideas."
"I would encourage anyone who was considering a residency with Jamaal to absolutely go for it. It was a rare and unique experience in the dance sector to have such a comfortable, non-judgeing and accepting space to work and explore"
"I really would recommend it, We had everything we needed! The room was great! The food was great! Being in the space was great! Having a little gang that you could move in and out of being with was great. I really enjoyed it!"
