MASS BREAKIN
MASS BREAKIN? On 12 November, O'Driscoll Collective delivered their first large-scale performance and region-wide outreach project for the World Trampolining Championships at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham! This project was created for young people to experience all that we love and appreciate with the art form of Breakin’ through school sessions, open workshops, rehearsals, and performances. Thank you to those who have supported from collaborators, partners, parents/ guardians, and group leaders.
Local Organising Committee of the FIG World Trampoline Championships - ""Working with Jamaal and the O’Driscoll Collective has been an incredible experience for the Local Organising Committee of the FIG World Trampoline Championships. We set out to deliver the ultimate platform for performance within the arena for the athletes, and proved to positively benefit huge numbers of participants from across the city with the amazing work of Jamaal and the team. Not only providing opportunities to be active and enjoy sporting, creative and cultural activities, but to perform on a large scale in front of an international audience. Jamaal embraced the ethos of inclusivity and delivered not only opportunity for the residents of Birmingham but an amazing spectacle and fantastic show." Supported and funded by Birmingham City Council & FIG World Tramoline Championships. |

TESTIMONIALS & FEEDBACK
WORKSHOP FEEDBACK
Open Theatre - "I would like to thank Jamaal for his time and dedicated work. His workshops were fantastic. I thought he engaged the artists and worked to suit the needs of each group and where they were at. He was engaging and made a slightly nerve-wracking form of dance into something accessible and achievable for all (even me - Lol). Jamaal meets the needs of each and every young person to make break dance accessible for all; he is a fantastic facilitator." Queen Alexander College - "The students enjoyed being able to be part of a project that lead to the trampolining event. Students felt they had a connection with something that would be performed later on. There was the right amount of practical element with regular breaks that suited the various fitness/ability levels of students. If there were future workshops, a continued focus on practical, inclusive dance sessions would be great!" Bearwood Community Centre CIC - "Loved that kids could get started straight away, practical elements right from the start so kids were engaged from the get go. Jamaal gave great modifications for different attendees to suit their abilities and ages and you could see visibly on the children's faces both the focus in learning the move and then the delight in having achieved it themselves. Great fun!" |
