Break-Out is a youth outreach program which flexibly runs for six to eight weeks in schools, dance and community organisations.
The program is tailored to the participants age, background and dancing experience, to proliferate a positive relationship between dance and young people, focusing on the style of b-boying and b-girling (breakin' within hip-hop dance).
Through this program, not only will participants develop their dancing abilities and physical well-being, they will also be guided through the personal development skills the program and dancing style transfers, such as, confidence and creativity.

WHY OUTREACH?
Artistic Director, Jamaal O'Driscoll's passion within outreach, drives our direction for workshops, the outreach programme and performances, striving to make a positive difference to participants, especially the younger generation.
Jamaal's professional background is within the UK National Collaborative Outreach Program (NCOP) as a Aimhigher Progression Ambassador (APA). This role involves encouraging under-represented groups to apply to Higher Education through working with school and college staff to deliver a programme of activities and opportunities. These responsibilities include mentoring, implementing support systems and leading workshops.
Break-Out is unique in that it brings the knowledge and expertise of outreach, to approach the teaching of the dance style of breakin', to holistically develop the present and next generation.
- "I am passionate about guiding people physically and mentally, through teaching dance and performing my choreographic work, based around key topics relevant to people currently and in the future."
